its got good information, and is a good reference guide for the beginner or really for anyone who is interested in information.. while I find some of it doesnt really suit me it has been in my book list of witchy books for years and it does have some really helpful information that is written in a way that is super easy to understand.
This book gives a concise overview of the wiccan tradition. While it can not by far teach everything there is t o know about Wicca I found it a comprehensive guide to the faith. It's helpful and informative! If you are looking to learn the basics of Wicca this is a must read.
What a great book. It was actually recommended by a professor! This book sounds silly, but, it has everything in it that you will need to learn about the subject and practice it! It is written in a step by step format, making it easy for the student to follow and understand. The author does not write it to impress you, but to teach you; however she does both! For anyone interested in this subject, I highly recommend reading this book first, then follow the tradition of your choice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I personally found this book to be written with great respect and encouragement for new witches everywhere.It touches on almost everything connected with Wicca. Each chapter serves as a solid grounding in its topic and a jumping-off place for more study.You get chapters on witches in history, sabbats and esbats, the Lord and the Lady, covens and solitaries, magical tools and costumes, the seasons of nature, the phases of the moon, astrology, dreams, divination, how to write your own spells, herb magic, candle magic, color magic, altars, magic circles, familiars, pentacles, and more.The authors write in a clear, inviting, friendly style. The information is so well-organized that only later do you realize what an exhausting amount you've covered. Throughout, the authors serve as guides, anticipating and steering you clear of pitfalls (such as ingesting unknown herbs or attempting to interfere with anyone's free will).My one disappointment in the book concerns its title: it's really about Wicca and does no more than mention other types of witchcraft in a brief historical summary. But I still found it a rich offering to pagans everywhere.
This book is among the stars of basic knowledge that fell from the sky. It covers in great detail, everything you need to know whether your just delving, beginning, or researching from history to the why's? and how-to's? I believe that if this book had a different title it would have to be labeled a grimoire. The compendium of information takes you from deciding why you are reading it's words, to the first steps of a witch's doing's, and through all the way through to the dedication and initiation rites if you decide to follow the craft. The Author doesn't preach to the choir, nor make biased opinions towards either side of the points it makes. The facts and teaching style of it's contents make it easy to read through as just a reference source, ending with reading being given a choice to continue studies or go on with their daily lives.
A great way to learn about different aspects of Wicca and Witchcraft. The subject is detail oriented enough to help out the common and beginner in the work of Wicca. It is good for the understanding the many facets that make up Wiccan Worship.
Haven't finished it yet but it seems to be another all around good reference book (as the Idiots & dummy's books usually are) I like how its written and presented. Good all around book on Wicca/witchcraft
I got this book on advice from a good and trusted friend. It contains a wealth of information and is very thorough. It will be one of my "go to" reference books in this new journey of mine.
