love this first line in this book “Have you ever dreamed of being a hero?” What kid hasn’t? I think its in our nature to want to make a positive difference and I don’t think children are immune to that desire. They are always asking if they can help and are eager to make a contribution, no matter how small. This book is a wonderful tool to help children feel good about making a difference in the environment around them and have fun while doing it.It includes 23 different activities that are children friendly (some requiring varying levels of adult help) and range from super simple to a little more involved. Each project is broken down into clear steps and includes helpful tips as well as a supply list and an explanation for how doing that activity can help the ecosystem. My favorite more involved project is instructions for making a birdwatching tent/hide-away. How cool is that?! Don’t worry, there isn’t any sewing involved. In fact, you only need five different supplies. I know my little guy would love this and we may have to give it a try this summer!My favorite activity on the super simple end is the plastic bottle rain barrel to aid in watering plants. This is one that appeals to me because it doesn’t take a lot of time to accomplish, is easy to understand, and kids can see it working when it rains. It would make for a fabulous science fair project or just at-home science observation. All-in-all these activities are ones that are not only appealing, but look like loads of fun.*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion, which this is.
