I am a seasoned clayer, but relatively new to millefiori caning. The reviews on this book were astounding and I was so excited to get it. Perhaps I had my expectations to high....Here was my problem, I expected thorough "how to" pictures, but rather than showing "how to" steps with clay, the whole first half of the book was "how to" pictures using computer graphics!!! Over half of them were not even 3D and it was VERY hard to decipher (in my opinion). About 2/3 of the way through the book, real cane pictures begin to appear; but they are FINISHED canes, not canes in progress.I love both of these polymer authors & artists. Perhaps because of their popularity and straight forward advice I had expected more. Being a novice caner, I expected pictures of canes being assembled, with real clay. There was too little of that and too many computer generated designs. In time I will get used to it and be able to tackle it I suppose, but it's not what I thought I was getting....I am disappointed overall.***EDIT: I am now more experienced in caning having spent several months learning new techniques. This being said, I still find this book frustrating and the instructions decidedly unclear. It still sits on my shelf, having received very little love, attention, or use.***

Love this book! Great information.

Exactly as described.

great book!

I wouldn't have given this book one star......I was very disappointed when I received this book in the mail. It is not worth the price I paid for it. It is poorly written and has very poor instructions. I am a quilter who has been working with polymer clay for almost a year. This book only shows quilt blocks in 2 dimension. I have all that information. I need to know how to manipulate the clay to get it into the quilt block formation through the use of a cane. There is little to no information on the process of building the quilt block from clay. The pictures in the book are all 2 dimensional drawings of quilt patterns. There are no 3 dimensional pictures of the clay and how it is formed into the block. The authors assume that you know all of this. I would recommend that you purchase a book on how to form the clay and figure out yourself how to make the quilt blocks. I purchased, "Making Polymer Clay Beads: Step-by-Step Techniques for Creating Beautiful Ornamental Beads" about a year ago and learned much more about polymer clay than "Adapting Quilt Blocks to Clay" has to offer.

I like to do PC mosaics and that is why I purchased this book. I know nothing about quilts, but their designs got my attention. The instructions are easy to follow and the pictures are great. But what I liked most was how everything was laid out, step by step, color by color. This means a lot to me since I am SEVERLY COLOR CHALLENGED. I can see the colors, but I'm not sure what some of them are. This book is wonderful. I won't be making any quilt blocks, but this book gave me a world of new ideas for my mosaics and many other things. I'm sure people who like quilts will love it too.To the reviewer who didn't like the book: When you change the way you look at something, whatever you are looking at will also change. Thanks Judith and Sarajane, Sorry I didn't take time to review your book sooner. Jay

I'm so glad I bought this book. I always wanted to try quilt block canes but they looked too complicated and difficult. This book explains how to build canes of traditional and non-traditioal quilt blacks in a way that is easy to understand and copy. It gives a useful technique for precisely and organizing each clay component and color, and also makes it easy to adapt patterns to your own color palate. (I really recommend this book, but one does have to have a rudimentary understanding of how caning works, otherwise the instructions appear to be two dimensional.)

This book is fantastic. Anybody who uses polymer clay would benefit from having this book in their library. Step by step illustrations which take away the anxiety of building complex extruded canes. I could NOT live without this book - seriously!
